Vasily  Yurkevich  (b: 1985).

 

Currently a conductor of Pskov region Governor’s Symphony orchestra. Completed two graduate courses of St. Petersburg State Conservatory in vocal performance (2012, prof. A. Kiselev) and  symphony conducting (2017, prof.V. Altshuler). He continued his studies in St. Petersburg Conservatory and in 2020 completed postgraduate course with Master of Music degree in symphony conducting. In 2016-2018 he worked at the St. Petersburg Theater of Musical Comedy where he conducted and was an artistic director of operetta and musical performances such as J. Offenbach’s «Orpheus in the Underworld», A. Sullivan’s «Trial by Jury», S. Banevich’s «Tom Sawyer».

He  successfully toured with the  symphony orchestras of Russia and  Commonwealth of Independent States orchestra , State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg,  Symphony orchestra of St. Petersburg Conservatory, St. Petersburg Youth Symphony orchestra,  St. Petersburg orchestra of Mikhailovsky Opera and Ballet theater,  State academic orchestra of Nur-Sultan Philharmonic,  «Volga Philharmonic» Chamber Orchestra of the Samara State Philharmonic,  Astrakhan State Philharmonic Orchestra, Dagestan State Philharmonic Orchestra named after T. Muradov.

Recent opera engagements include staging the opera «The Snow Maiden» by N. Rimsky-Korsakov at the State Opera and Ballet Theater of the Komi Republic. Vasily Yurkevich has performed on the same stage with leading soloists of the Mariinsky Theater – Olga Trifonova and Yevgeny Akimov, soloist of the Serbian National Theater Maria Yelich, cellist Ivan Sendetsky, and actress Anna Mikhalkova. In October 2020, on the stage of the Grand Hall of the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, Vasily Yurkevich  conducted  the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.
